Bridging the Divide Between Theory and Practice
While the district has made significant gains on many areas of the TAKS tests in recent years, the science portion of the test is not producing the results that teachers and administrators believe that students are capable of achieving. In light of the importance of science education, a report was presented to the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees in January that detailed the district's challenges with regard to teaching science. To take our students to new levels of achievement in science, The Global Center for Science and Technology concept was proposed. A community-based exploratory committee conducted a feasibility study and made recommendations regarding the concept of the Global Center to the FBISD Board of Trustees in May.
Update: June 9, 2009
