Assessment

The referral folder is compiled by school personnel and transferred to the appropriate evaluation specialist. The consent and notifications are obtained by the evaluation specialist. A Full Individual Evaluation Report (FIER) is completed within 60 calendar days from the date that the signed consent form is received by the school.

Determination of Disability and Educational Need
This section is required for all children referred because they are suspected of having a disability. The six areas addressed in this evaluation are: language dominance and proficiency, physical, emotional/behavioral, sociological, intellectual/adaptive, and educational/developmental.

Assessment of Learning Competencies
This section addresses the student’s strengths and needs in any areas identified as a disability. It also includes recommendations for modifications and instruction techniques in regular and special education settings, and adaptive technology needs.
