Certifications and Licensures
The
following document reflects the Industry Standard Certifications (ISC) received by students over the previous four years. In 2002 it was determined that a methodical approach to increase ISC would benefit students and was very much overdue. Over the four years, the increases have continued to rise.
One significant increase occurred between 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. This was a result of the Career and Technology budget beginning to pay for the Microsoft User certification. This certification applied to the Business Education program which has the largest program area enrollment. By making the opportunity available to each student that had demonstrated mastery of the requisite skills the resulting numbers increased.
There are several dips and gaps in the data as the chronological progression of the expansion of student testing continued. These are related to changes in teacher assignments, student interest, funding and teachers’ ability to be certified in a specific area.
The ISC plan for 2007-2008 (as referenced elsewhere in this document) will include a budget increase to pay for student testing, increased staff development for teachers, and a measurable goal to direct the activities.
