Specialists in School Psychology
Fort Bend ISD employs Licensed Specialists in School Psychology (LSSPs) to provide consultation to teachers and parents, counseling services to individuals and groups, and assessment services when appropriate.

LSSPs serve students from pre-school through grade 12, and therefore, are responsible for multiple campuses.

LSSPs provide high quality direct and indirect mental health services to students, administrators, teachers, and parents. Direct services are provided through counseling which may be done in either individual or group settings. Indirect services are provided through consultation with staff, parents, and others working with a particular student.

L.S.S.P's are professionals knowledgeable in:

Roles and Responsibilities of Licensed Specialists in School Psychology:

  • Counseling as a related service to special education students
  • Counseling with regular education and §504 students as appropriate
  • Consultation regarding any students with behavior and/or academic difficulties

Our Mission
The School Psychology Division of the Student Support Services Department provides high quality services to students through direct and consultative methods. The goals of the Division are to prevent mental health problems from becoming so severe that they interfere with school performance; to shorten the duration of behavioral or emotional difficulties when they occur; to facilitate improvement in a student's ecological environment, including school, home, and community variables; and to provide training to faculties and parents regarding the mental health of students.

Fort Bend ISD’s School Psychology Division has twice been recognized as the “Outstanding Provider of School Psychological Services” in the State of Texas.

Internships in School Psychology
Fort Bend ISD offers full-year internships for qualified individuals from accredited university training programs. Interns are fully supervised by experienced LSSPs on staff.
