Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) is the Federal government's largest single source of funding for drug and violence prevention programs in the Nation's schools. The State Grants portion of the Act provides funding to approximately 97 percent of school districts in the Nation to assist them in preventing violence in and around schools, promoting safety and discipline for students and preventing the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs by school-aged youth.

Staff
The District employs full-time substance abuse experts who provide services to students at all schools. Students served are those at risk for or involved in substance abuse. Students who have family members who are substance abusers are eligible for these services. The Safe and Drug-Free Schools staff provides leadership and coordination of Fort Bend ISD’s Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Month activities.

The Student Support Services Department has an interagency agreement with the Fort Bend Regional Council on Substance Abuse,Inc. for Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDC) , who provide services to students within our district.
