Sonal Bhuchar, a long time resident of
Sugar Land, is a physical therapist in
private practice in Sugar Land and was
elected to the Board in 2006 in position
2. Her commitment to the FBISD
schools began almost 16 years ago
when she served on various PTOs and
PTAs and district level committees, including the advisory
committees for GT Parents, School Health and Community
Relations and Partnerships. She has served as Presidnet and Secretary of
the FBISD Board. She has also served on the District Accountability Task
Force, Audit and Finance Committee, and the Discipline
Management Committee. She led the formation of the
Student Leadership and legislative advocacy programs in
FBISD. Since 2002, she has served on the Board of Directors
of the Fort Bend Education Foundation and also serves on
the Sugar Land Exchange Club Board. She chaired the
International Festival for the Fort Bend Education Foundation
for the past three years as well as other city-wide events. She
brings a significant level of leadership experience in a variety
of roles. Bhuchar, a graduate of Bombay University and her
husband, Dr. Subodh Bhuchar live in Sugar Land and have
three children, two of whom have graduated from FBISD and
the youngest still attends a FBISD high school.
