Learning Community's Shared Values

Staff:

We believe the entire learning community is our customer and our sole purpose is to serve; therefore we value and embrace parental and community involvement. Getting along with people is the single most important talent we bring to our profession.

We believe all children can learn regardless of difficult circumstances and that learning is a life-long experience.

We believe that within every student encounter, there are teaching opportunities available.

Every appropriately behaved student who attends TMHS with at least 97% daily attendance will achieve a minimum 1.5 years of academic and social growth.

Ninety-percent of TMHS students earning tenth grade status will test on or above grade level in the following: areas- written expression, reading and math computation.

We believe in empowering people and fostering opportunities for personal and professional growth for all students and staff.

We support best practices through discussion with teachers concerning instructional issues, classroom observations of instruction and by guiding the use of data to evaluate the progress of the school.

We will teach to TEKS objectives identified in our departmental instructional calendars.

We will master and integrate all leading indicators identified.
---informal formative assessment
---re-teach / employing flexible grouping strategies
---redirect inappropriate behavior employing coupling statements

We will frequently assess student mastery of outcomes in a variety of ways and will provide students with many opportunities to demonstrate mastery of those concepts.

We will work collaboratively in developing instructional strategies, designing methods of assessment, and advancing the vision of the learning community.

We will model the self-discipline, self-motivation, and commitment to high quality work that we hope to develop in our students.

We will insure an orderly, learning, and friendly environment.

We will seek not only to be understood, but also to understand through frequent communications with students, parents, and colleagues.

We will seek not to win, but resolve disagreements within our learning community.

We will treat all members of the learning community with dignity and respect.
