How to Register

School volunteers, Interns, Student Teachers and Observers, Contracted Services, Jr. Achievement, Tutors/Mentors, Private Lesson Instructors, Field Trips/Chaperone, Shared Dreams, etc. need to complete a short Volunteer Application.  Paper criminal history forms are no longer being processed.  If an individual does not have access to a computer or needs assistance, he/she may come to the Human Resources Office on the first floor of the FBISD Administration Building and we will assist them with the application process.  The social security number is required on all volunteer criminal history applications.  They are often needed when conducting criminal background checks.  Applications without a valid social security number will not be processed.

All volunteer applications will become inactive on June 30th. To reactivate and update your volunteer application, log on after July 1st using your applicant ID and password. If you have forgotten your applicant ID and/or password, click the ‘Forget your Applicant ID and/or Password’ link when you attempt to log into your application.

You MUST reapply annually.

Why do I need to complete an online Criminal History Check?

State law requires that all volunteers in Fort Bend ISD complete an online criminal history background check. This rule is designed to protect and enhance the safety and well-being of all individuals on the school campus. Criminal information obtained is confidential and used only for the purpose of ensuring student safety.

Who completes an online criminal History Check?

All who volunteer/mentor on school campuses during operating hours or at any school-sponsored function when the job involves working with campus personnel and children other than their own must:

  1. Completely fill out the information required for volunteer registration; and
  2. Have the volunteer registration approved.

This applies to:

  • Chaperones - on campus/field trips
  • PTA/PTO Executive Board
  • Booster club members - academic, athletic, music
  • Volunteers - VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools), Mentors

This does not apply to:

  • Active FBISD employees, visitors, guest speakers
  • Having lunch with “own” child
  • Attendance at after school PTA/PTO meetings/events, carnivals/awards assemblies

How do I know I have been approved?

Once your online volunteer application has been approved, your name will appear on the campus list that you have designated. You may contact your desired campus to confirm your volunteer status.
