Information Services
Print/Electronic:

Web Based:

  • Create, update and maintain web pages for the FBISD Web site
  • Provide information through the Pipeline, FBISD’s intranet network
  • Answer patrons’ questions/concerns via district website
  • Provide municipal broadcasts and web casts of FBISD Board Meetings

Media Relations

  • Serve as district liaison to address media inquiries
  • Issue new releases on FBISD programs, student achievement, and current issues
  • Facilitate reporters’ access to requested information
  • Coordinate information flow to the news media during crisis situations

Strategic Communications Support

  • Develop proactive communication plans and programs to promote campus and department initiatives.
  • Establish guidelines and protocols for campus and district staff members to support consistent and effective communication with internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and manage district branding guidelines.

Communications Training

  • General public relations training for administration
  • Media training for administrators
  • Crisis management training and counsel

Editorial/Marketing Services

  • Editing support for campuses and departments
  • Assisting schools/departments with local communication efforts, including news releases, publications, campus newsletters, parent letters, and event promotion

Special Event/Campaign Coordination

  • Annual Staff Service Awards Program and Banquet
  • Annual Teacher of the Year Program and Banquet
  • Annual graduation ceremonies (for all FBISD high schools)
  • Annual Volunteer Training Conference
  • Annual Partnership Appreciation event
  • New school dedication ceremonies
  • Bond Referendum information campaigns

Graphic Arts/Video Services

  • Graphic art support to schools and departments district wide
  • Graphic support in the planning and execution of district events and activities
  • Videotaping of special district activities including training programs, administrative inservices, and community forums


Partnerships

VIPS (Volunteers In Public Schools) - offers volunteer opportunities in FBISD schools:

  • Mentor Program - partners an adult volunteer to a student for assistance with social and academic development (requires one hour/one-time per week)
  • Shared Dreams - provides school clothing for FBISD students in need of assistance
  • Youth Expanding Services - encourages volunteerism among high school students
  • Annual Community Conference for Parents

Community and Business Partnerships - connects classroom learning to real-world experiences to enrich student success:

  • Career Day - a middle school career exploration program
  • 40 Developmental Assets - key ingredients to help students reach their full potential
  • Countdown to Your Future - recruits business representatives to join FBISD in encouraging students to begin preparing for their future by taking more rigorous courses in high school
  • Speakers/Judges Bureau - involves professionals as speakers or judges for a variety of subjects and competitions
  • Youth Art Month - showcases student artwork in business locations throughout the community

Fort Bend ISD Education Foundation

  • Grants for Teachers and Schools Program - supports innovative classroom projects proposed by teachers for which conventional funding is not available
  • Grants for Experts Program - enables Fort Bend ISD teachers to hear nationally recognized speakers from a broad range of educational fields
  • Angel Gifts - provides teachers, just beginning their teaching career, a gift certificate to local teachers' supply store to help them set up their classrooms
  • Tribute Fund - allows individuals to make contributions that recognize or memorialize teachers, loved ones, or other special people
  • ABC Program - gives FBISD employees an avenue to support the Foundation through payroll dedications
  • Endowment Fund - Established by the FBISD Education Foundation’s Board of Directors to ensure that the Foundation becomes self-perpetuating
  • Angels of Education Auxiliary - established to promote community awareness and to assist with Education Foundation activities

Major events from which funds are raised include:

  • Education Foundation Gala - Attracting nearly 600 attendees, this annual event raises money for teacher and campus grants and the endowment fund through table sales, live and silent auctions, and the sale of raffle tickets.
  • Back to School Scramble - The annual golf tournament increases community awareness of the Education Foundation and provides an additional source of revenue for grants and for the endowment.
  • Education Expedition - This MS150 recommended training ride prepares bike riders for their annual spring trek to Austin while providing additional revenue for grants and the Foundation endowment.
