The Shared Dreams program provides short term assistance to registered Fort Bend ISD students whose needs have been determined by the nurse with assistance from campus staff.
The nurse provides the parent or guardian with a form that he/she must bring to the facility to select clothing. Please note that altering or forging of the form by a parent or guardian voids their right to “shop” at the facility. In this event, the school nurse measures the child, and appropriate clothing and toiletries are selected for the child and delivered to the nurse’s office.
Every child who is referred to Shared Dreams is allotted the same amount of clothing, regardless of age. The clothing checklist, in English and Spanish, is provided to the parent or guardian when he visits the facility. Since Shared Dreams depends on donations, clothing sizes may be available sporadically. Parents who do not find all the items during their initial visit are allowed 30 days from that date to fill their order.
Hours of Operation
The program has two sessions each year:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Fall session begins in September
- Spring Session begins the week after Spring Break
- Closed the first Friday in May through Labor Day, school holidays and in-service days
- Exceptions are noted on the recorded phone message throughout the year.
The VIPS program assists in recruiting parent volunteers from all campuses to help at the facility. All potential volunteers must complete a Criminal History Application.
Student participation is encouraged during scheduled hours. Group size is held to a maximum of 10 students for one hour at a time. Organizations, such as Rotary Clubs and Interact Groups, have volunteered at the facility.
The Shared Dreams program relies on donations of clothing, toiletry items and monetary donations from schools, churches, and Business and Community Partners.
