Fee Increase Schedule
October 17, 2008
Dear Extended Day Parents,
Over the past two years, the Extended Day Program (EDP) has worked to support future growth and improvements in our program. Our Five Year Strategic Plan (5YSP) has seven goals and supporting objectives that illustrate our commitment to our students and the District’s vision for the future. These goals can only be met by accounting for the continuing increases in operating costs, modifying our existing operating procedures, and investing more in our 286 staff members and 43 campuses.
Key stakeholders have readily acknowledged our plan’s value while recognizing that its successful implementation depends upon increased revenue. EDP’s current income covers basic program operations with little room for spending on needed improvements, financial aid, and student materials and activities.
EDP has only raised tuition twice in its 16 years of operation. Our Parent Advisory Board – a body whose voice we find invaluable – has sanctioned a rate increase in support of the 5YSP. They believe our plan will bring value to easily justify the approved schedule. EDP has received approval from the Superintendent, Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees to implement an increase schedule. The first two increases will begin be implemented spring 2009: a Spring Break fee in addition to March’s tuition and each summer session will increase $10 per student. The full tuition increase schedule is available at the link below.
The Program will continue to keep all of our parents informed of our progress in meeting the goals set in our Five-Year Strategic Plan along with the future increases through 2012. This information will be added to our Program’s website at: http://www.fortbendisd.com/extendedday/
Your continued support is essential to the continuous improvement in our practices. Please forward any questions to extendedday@fortbendisd.com; we will do our best to answer any questions you may have about the tuition increase or any other concerns you may have about the Program.
Sincerely,
Michelle P. Amos
