District Strategic Plan

FBISD recognizes the importance of planning as a strategic tool for performance excellence. While many organizations write a plan, few school district leaders monitor and examine the results of the implementation of district strategic plans. FBISD’s senior leaders consider every action in the context of how the action or initiative supports or meets the goals and objectives developed to achieve the district’s mission and vision. Strategy begins with strategic thinking—focusing on unique opportunities to create value by meeting or exceeding student and stakeholder requirements and understanding the key drivers of improvement.

Strategic planning provides a basis to align and focus improvement efforts to accomplish the goals of the organization. All FBISD campuses, departments, and individual plans align to the district goals. The district’s key performance indicators (DPI) provide a concrete measure of how well the organization is doing in targeted improvement initiatives. Each goal typically has several DPIs which, when analyzed both individually and collectively, provide an accurate, complete picture of how well the district is progressing in the result area.

The Superintendent and cabinet regularly monitor the accomplishment of the DSP Objectives with quarterly reviews of the performance indicators, key actions, and recommendations for future action based on the results achieved at that point. Following an analysis of the data and environment, senior leaders revise and refocus the DSP to ensure that the strategic objectives align to current needs and requirements. The Board reviews the recommended revisions and annually approves the strategic focus of the DSP. Quarterly and year end performance reports communicate progress to the Board of Trustees, community, and staff.
