The FBISD School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is made up of parents, community members, and district staff working together to promote healthy schools and healthy students.
In the past few years the SHAC has:
- Assisted the district in developing:
- Criteria for the district's wellness policy.
- Recess recommendations.
- TalkLine 24 hour crisis hotline for students
- Reviewed and recommended:
- Growth and Development materials for elementary students
- Health textbooks
- A coordinated school health program
- CATCH (Coordinated Approach to Child's Health) for elementary schools
- Healthy and Wise/SPARK for middle schools
- Supported WATCH week activities in the District and the community
- Supported the presentation of school health related topics at the FBISD Community Conference
