Latino Family Literacy
The Latino Family Literacy Project provides family reading
routines for Spanish- and English-speaking parents and their
children. The Project introduces the VISTA Method, a language
acquisition method and a step-by-step literacy instruction
process. It involves family reading, vocabulary development,
and English-language development for Latino parents and their
children. Each age specific programs engages the parents in
reading with their children, reflect the experiences of Latino
families, and is centered around universal themes.
Literacy Groups
Literacy Groups consist of a structured format for groups
of four to five students including the teaching strategies,
familiar reading, shared or guided writing, and journal or
interactive writing.

Title I Parent Resource Centers are housed on Title I campuses.
They are designed to meet the needs of the family with emphasis
on parent training, literacy, and parental involvement. The
PRC’s are family-friendly environments where both parents
and children can learn.
The Title I
Parent Advisory Council
The Title I Parent Advisory Council (PAC) for Title I consists
of two parent representatives from the district’s Title
I schools. The campus representatives serve as liaisons between
the school and the Title I office. As mentors, they are to
become active participants in the school, as well as work
with the decision-making bodies such as the Campus Based Leadership
Team.

Fort Bend I.S.D. offers services to homeless students and their
families according to the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act to address
students' educational needs and ensure their academic success.
